Cliffs of Moher: Breathtaking Views & Family Adventure
Admiring the beauty and expansiveness of the Cliffs of Moher—nature’s masterpiece in full view.
Want the BEST views of the Cliffs of Moher without the large crowds and high price?
Look no further, I’ve got you covered!
Back in 2018, I stumbled upon this spot while searching online. Not going to lie, when I first came across it, it sounded a little … sketch. There was no actual address! While talking with someone in Dublin, they confirmed the general location and gave me a few pointers on how to find it. Miraculously - without internet or cell service, just a paper map and their pointers - my family and I found the location. We were blown away by the views and incredible walk we were able to go on - all without the crowds!
This past November I was able to find it again!
The key is not to give up - when the road turns to dirt & you think you’re completely lost, you’re just about there! You’ll start to see signs like the one below for the car park. They’re few and far between, but there’s that moment of relief when you spot it.
I’ve since learned that this walk is called The Cliffs of Moher Liscannor Walk. Type the walk as your address into maps. It will take you to a yellow house. Park in the driveway & leave 5€ in the mailbox - not kidding! One incredible bonus - especially when traveling with little ones - is that they even have two outdoor restrooms. Bathrooms (picture in black below) were clean and had toilet paper.

Then walk the beautiful road up to the Cliffs and Hags Head. There will be markers but obviously head in the direction to the water. The walk is peaceful, full of greenery and views of the water. You’ll have to jump two small stone fences (pictured in above on the right) before you hit the perfect Cliffs of Moher spot with stunning views!
Standing on the edge of wonder
In the summer months you can continue the full hike that allows you to walk along the cliffs. Back in 2018 I was able to walk it but this past November it was closed due to wind. This continued walk is not for the faint of heart when it comes to heights! When traveling with children, you’re going to need to be extra cautious as there is no fence or railing between you and the cliffs (pictured below).
If you’re very interested in this extended walk, double check to see it is open before you go.
Bonus Tips:
If driving down from Galway, make sure to stop at the Corkscrew Hill Lookout. It's nice to stretch your legs, take in the greenery, and if driving like myself, a moment to take a breath from the stress of driving on the opposite side of the winding roads!
The walk could be wet and muddy, make sure you wear the right shoes! Sneakers are fine if they have good traction. I wore ankle rainboots which did the trick.
For Lunch after the walk hit the colorful small coastal town of Doolin. Gus O’Connor’s Pub is great! We sat near the fireplace while enjoying a pint and some yummy food. While in Doolin check out The Sweater Shop (the pink cottage) before getting a sweet treat at Doolin Ice Cream.
